Johnny Depp and Amber Heard held a small private wedding ceremony at their home in Los Angeles, reports People magazine. It's thought the duo, who have been dating for three years, will hold a bigger celebration on the Pirates of the Caribbean star's island in the Bahamas this weekend.

The couple made it legal at their home in Los Angeles on Tuesday. As previously reported, a bigger wedding is still to come this weekend on Depp's private island in the Bahamas. We can't wait to see Amber’s wedding dress. heart emoticon

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have officially tied the knot, multiple sources are reporting. 

According to People, the couple married at their Los Angeles home Tuesday. E! News has confirmed this, as well as Us Weekly. According to all three outlets, a bigger ceremony is set to take place on Depp's private island in the Bahamas this weekend.

HuffPost has reached out to both actors' reps for comment and will update this story if and when one comes through.

Depp, 51, and Heard, 28, met on the set of the 2011 thriller "The Rum Diary." The pair was first romantically linked in 2012, and news of their engagement broke in January 2014, after Heard was spotted wearing an engagement ring. 

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star indirectly confirmed the engagement news to the Associated Press in March 2014, saying, "The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway -- not very subtle," lifting up his hand to reveal a diamond band.

The wedding marks Heard's first marriage and Depp's second. The actor married makeup artist Lori Allison in 1983 before they separated two years later. Depp has two children with his former girlfriend Vanessa Paradis: Lily-Rose, 15, and Jack, 12. 

Around 50 guests are expected for the party on Little Hall's Pond Cay, a retreat that Johnny bought in 2004 for $3.6million. It's the perfect place for a seaside wedding, given that it has six beaches.

"I don't think I'd ever seen any place so pure and beautiful," the screen heart-throb once said. "You can feel your pulse rate drop about 20 beats. It's instant freedom."

The ethereal 28-year-old actress has reportedly picked out a Stella McCartney dress for the special occasion.

The couple met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011 and starting dating a year later when Johnny separated from French diva Vanessa Paradis, who is the mother of his two children Lily-Rose, 15, and Jack, 12. He proposed over the Christmas holidays in 2013, confirming the engagment in a typically eccentric fashion by wearing the diamond sparkler himself on his ring finger.

Speaking about his young love, Johnny, 51, said: " She's a wonderful girl. She's sharp as a tack. A southern belle and sweet as can be, and very good for me."

The couple have been travelling the world together this year to promote Mortdecai

The blonde beauty previously dated girlfriend Tasya van Ree for four years. Meanwhile, Johnny was with Vanessa for 14 years. When they split up the actor said there were "a couple of bumpy years" but he was proud of how their children coped.

His ex is now dating French pop star Benjamin Biolay. Having moved on herself, Vanessa has reportedly given Johnny and his bride her blessing.
